Portal 3 dreams

On the eve of my starting Game Design school, I decided to find and install Portal 2... at 5 AM. I subsequently woke up at 5 PM (in the evening) and sketched this:

I sincerely hope Valve aren't the type to steal intellectual property off people's blogs... or facebook for that matter. I doubt they are.

Anonymous Corps

Coloured these guys. I'm thinking of making a cartoon-show-like intro for them. It's pretty amazing what inspiration can stem from complete and total rejection...

FPS dreams

More dreams about games... This could come in handy.

1. I found the HPX-1 lying on top of some cargo containers inside the facility. I was surprised at how flat it was when I picked it up, but it ended up being useful. The primary trigger charged up a blue cohesive bolt, much like pumping up a balloon, and the secondary trigger released it, bouncing off walls until eventually exploding causing splash damage. It used up ammo really quickly, unfortunately.

2. Dual wielded automatic shotguns. Nuff said.

3. The Cobra pistol is what I started out with, I think, and I was quickly able to use two at once. The secondary trigger released a short-range burst of particles similar to a shotgun blast.

4. There was a pump-action shotgun, which meant I could only use one at a time but its higher ammo capacity meant it was still pretty effective.

5. The assault rifle was abundant but I didn't end up using until a later level, when the scope function was activated and I was able to pick off enemies that were a little farther away. Decent gun.

6. The TLTL looks like a dick and balls, but it helped me take down a tank that busted in on me through a wall at one point. The scope let me target the vehicle and launch a translocational tag onto it, which then beamed it into space, or something.

I think there was a rocket launcher at some point in the dream, but I can't remember what it looked like.

This dude looks evil as shit, but this was actually who I was playing as, I think... There were humans and other cyborg-esque dudes on my side, but I was the squid, I think. I don't know why the human aspect of the symbiosis appears to have died, maybe he's part zombie or something. It was a strange dream.

I'll try and colour all of these at some point, maybe even flesh out the concepts a little more.

Wait for it

I'm making an animated cartoon with bits of Aphex Twin songs.

I'm not promising anything, but be prepared to cum in your pants.

I don't know what serendipity means

This guy has been popping into my head for a while... part of some kind of post-apocalyptic universe where the Earth is overgrown with jungle and vehicles are rarely used, so people become nomads and wander the lands. He has bits of dreadlocks sewn to his hood.

I think I'm finally getting the hang of this tablet thing... took me a while. Which pretty cool considering I'm eventually going to be using one for a career.

Super Heroez Part 1: The Cold Squad

Refrigi-Lad is The Cold Squad's original ward and sidekick, and is totally peeved that Coldfront decided to let Ava (Windchill, Coldfront's girlfriend) join the team. His self-constructed arm-attachment can interchange between bursts of liquid-nitrogen and a fully functional snow-maker.

Refrigi-Lad always had a cold and sneezes a lot.

Windchill is the newest member of The Cold Squad, and has been described as a cold bitch sometimes. She has the same LN throwers that Coldfront is equipped with, the tanks contained within her gloves.

Ava has a thick German accent and swears a lot (in German).

Coldfront is the leader of The Cold Squad. His LN throwers within his gloves are supplied by tanks of pressurized liquid nitrogen contained in his boots, with the tubes running up the sides of his suit. Therefore, his suit has to be the most durable and able to withstand the lowest temperatures.

Coldfront has very little sense of humor and kills the joke often.

-----

Hopefully these guys will provide a worthy challenge for our villains, and provide enough lulz with their own in-fighting. Grouping the heroes into smaller teams might make this thing a little more entertaining. I'll try and do more later but for now, sleep.

Lizards with boobs?

Deal with it!
So I know you're thinking that it's absurd that a seven-foot-tall lizard somehow needs boobs, but deep in the fundamental heart of fictional biology there is a reason: I'm thinking that because of their matriarchal nature, the Phyllekians would be considered 'marsupial reptiles', meaning they don't actually lay eggs.

It's possible the fetus would initially develop in an egg, which would dissolve or break in utero at some point, similar to an embryonic sac, or something.

I don't know, I haven't really thought this out, but at the end of the day, they're fucking aliens. Deal with it.

Anyways, more developments:

Pictoran male, with size comparison
Pictorans hail from the cold and desolate Pictoris system, one of the few territories unconquered by the Phyllekians.

They are an extremely rugged and hostile race, and have formed an intense rivalry with Phyllek, refusing to submit to constant invasion and coveting of their natural resources.

Trophy
Pictoris is a male dominated society, females being veritable slaves and treated as objects with few rights. This will not stand in Phyllek's books.

Concepts to explore:
• War paint
• Guerilla warfare
• Trophies

---------

Rather despondent-looking Human male, approx 6 feet tall

Yeah, there's going to be one or two humans in the series (Hubrix, for one), but very rarely will you see them out of disguise. Phyllekians abhor Terrans. This should cause some conflict, as Domina inevitably grows quite attached to Hubrix, having him constantly at her disposal and whatnot. (Hey hey...)

The human race's role in the story should be mainly downplayed, I think, and shouldn't really be a deciding factor in any of the politics... at least not until an investigation into Hubrix's origin is declared by the Phyllekian senate.

(Oh yeah, that's right... I said 'senate'.)

God damn, I need a writer for this thing. Preferably someone with knowledge of Ancient Roman politics and herpetology.

Brainstorm

So I had this brilliant idea last night... I still have a bunch of illustration board left over from my courses that I never finished, so I've started re-drawing larger versions of my pictures onto them so that I can sell them or put them on display somewhere. I have a couple of contacts for galleries and a buddy of mine works at a bar that puts up new art on the regular. I figure if I finish five or six pieces he'll let me put them up.

I slept 10 hours during the day today. When the sun comes up, I'm going to buy art supplies.

New Matriarch Developments

So I drew out some comparative character designs to try give the universe a sense of scale. This also helped flesh out the planets and give them a bit of character themselves.

Phyllekians are tall and lithe due to their lowgrav homeworld, but rely on nanite-enforced armor when fighting on denser worlds to prevent them from breaking their bones.

The Vildrahi are an expansionist race of rat-men who are expert miners and merchants. They are abhorred by the Phyllekian Empire and are in a constant state of warfare with them, but nevertheless maintain the largest portion of space in relative size to Phyllek's domain.

Stakkans are a race conquered by Phyllek and used as peons/servants and often militia when needed. Due to the flat shape of their heads, they are sometimes used as tables or shelves for drinks and food at social gatherings.

A few larger aliens and some scenery.

I'm thinking Khegus would most likely be used as mounts by Phyllekians, but I think they more resemble cows. I'm still thinking of what Phyllekian vehicles would look like.

Waste Runners would most likely dominate the surface of Vildris, as the Vildrahi operate mostly underground.

Rock Wurms would be hunted by Phillekians on Palladia for their silk and venin, an extremely dangerous and difficult feat, and would be considered a right of passage to some.

A simple map I laid out to show the arrangement of the different systems in relation to each other. I'm going to try and do a much larger map of the populated galaxy at some point, but these are just a few of the more prominent systems.

Hopefully I'll be able to draw more of this stuff this week. I have to go and find a job at some point.

As far as mashups go...

... this one's pretty out there, but fuck it, here's my Predator/Rorschach hybrid.
